Romans 12:9-14 (NIV)
9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.
11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
13 Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse.

Are you challenged by these verses? We see just the opposite in our would today. We need these Christ-like qualities in our life and our Christian experience. Jesus is the only person who has faithfully lived a life demonstrating these qualities perfectly in His life. We need Jesus to live out these qualities in our life. We need His Spirit to fill us with His love and grace.

I would encourage you to read the rest of the instruction Paul gives in Romans 12, but I would like to think about verse 12. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Are you joyful in your hope in Jesus? Do you reflect the joy of the Lord in your life? Are you patient in affliction? How easily do you lose it? Do you have patients with those who ask you to wear a mask? Do you have patients with those who do not wear a mask? How easily do we lose our joy and our patience?

Could a big part of the problem be we are not faithful in prayer? How is your prayer life? Is it inconsistent? Do you have a regular time and place to pray? Do you take time to remember and thank God for His blessing? May we take time to count our blessings and express our thanks and gratitude to God and others for the blessing we have every day.

The church board voted this Tuesday to suspend in person services due to the increase in coronavirus cases. This Sabbath will be the last in person service until the new year and the board will re-evaluate at that time. We are saddened by the need to stop in person services but hope and pray we can resume them soon. Remember our church family, our community, our country and our world as we struggle with the pandemic and pain Satan has caused. May we find comfort, courage and hope in God’s grace and strength and remember His grace is sufficient.

The Adventist Book Center will be making deliveries to Apache Junction this Sunday November 22 at noon. It is deliveries only. If you made an order be sure to be at the church on time to pick up your order.
